True Ghost Stories: Something in the Kitchen and the Ghost of a Sister with Nellie and Yvonne

This is one of the original Tell Me A Ghost Story calls from the early days of the show. Short, raw, and exactly where it all started. These calls were later incorporated into a longer compilation episode with full host commentary if you want the complete experience.

Hey, it's Michelle, and this early episode brings back two of the most beloved callers in Tell Me A Ghost Story history. If you have been listening from the beginning, you already know Nellie and Yvonne. If this is your first time meeting them, you are in for something special.

Nellie has called in before about her haunted childhood home, a house that gave her more than enough true ghost stories for multiple episodes. This time, she takes us back to the kitchen, where something was moving around that had no business being there. Nellie's home is one of those places that reveals itself slowly, one room at a time, and the kitchen is where things got harder to explain away.

Yvonne introduces us to someone very important in this call. Her sister. Except her sister is not alive. Yvonne shares what it has been like to feel her sister's presence continuing after her death, a ghost story that is less about fear and more about the kind of love that apparently does not recognize the boundary between the living and the dead. This is part one of Yvonne's ghost sister story, and it is one of the most quietly powerful calls we have ever received.

Two returning callers. Two true ghost stories that remind us why this show exists. This is where Tell Me A Ghost Story began.

[00:00:02] Come to tell me a ghost story. The late night call in podcast where we delve into the world of the supernatural and explore the eerie and unexplained. I'm your host, Michelle Newman. This podcast features true stories from our callers that will send shivers down your spine

[00:00:34] and leave you questioning the existence of the afterlife. So grab a cozy blanket, turn down the lights. Hi this is Nelly again from Clinton Illinois and this is my other story. It occurred also at the same house that we were living in.

[00:01:01] The second time that something strange happened to me was actually I had my own bedroom at that time. It was a tiny bedroom and I remember I took a nap, it was a long nap so I woke up in

[00:01:22] the middle of the night and the kitchen light was on and I found it strange because I checked the time and it said 1, it was around 1am around that time. I don't clearly remember.

[00:01:39] And the strangest thing is that the kitchen light was on and I remember I got up and I said mom and no one replied but I heard like I can clearly hear something going on in the kitchen like stuff moving around.

[00:01:59] It sounded more like glasses moving but when I took a peek in the kitchen no one was there. And I found it strange because my parents bedroom door was closed and my brother's bedroom was also closed so it was just me.

[00:02:24] I can clearly hear glasses moving like something is going on in the kitchen and the light was on. I automatically felt like also when I saw that like chilled, I just knew something was wrong and I thought that's not normal.

[00:02:46] Everyone was in their bedroom sleeping and this is going on in the kitchen so I just went back to bed. I didn't want to deal with this. Thank you Nellie. I can't help but think of that old song lyric.

[00:03:03] Someone's in the kitchen with Dina, someone's in the kitchen I know. But who is in the kitchen? Or what? Next caller. I'm Michelle, it's me again from the Philippines. And I wanted to talk about someone who constantly visited me, made herself known

[00:03:33] and she stopped, I hope she stopped. She already made her point, she already visited me. And someone is really sister Patricia. So she was born in 1994, she was born in January 3. My mom and Porsche lost her because she entered a ticket box portioning.

[00:03:59] That's the reason why we lost her. So this experience was significant to me because it solidified or contrainted the idea that she was actually communicating with and the end of the reason why. At the end of the story.

[00:04:20] That's happened on a Sunday, it was a weekend and to mostly my mom and dad shouldn't be going to work but he was called to go to work and I had no choice so he was getting ready

[00:04:34] and this was around 7am to 8am in the morning and he was in the bathroom taking his shower. And I was actually waiting for my turn to get into the shower. So I was waiting in the living room, the last dining room looking into the mirror.

[00:04:51] It was dark and tempos. Anyway, while I was getting lost to picking up my skin, I could definitely hear the shower door in the background. And I thought I heard someone call my name. My name is Muki Bon.

[00:05:16] I go by Muki here and I heard someone whisper my name, Muki. And I couldn't confirm if I was hearing it or not because of the shower and because it was said so softly, I didn't believe it to be my name.

[00:05:41] So I said to myself, my head, say it again. So I did it again. Okay. I was like nope, it's okay, hear you. Do it again. So I did that two or three more times. And I think I got impatient or frustrated.

[00:06:04] Either way, I shouldn't have done this because I'm basically tonted. So I said I'm allowed to move. If you're there and if it's you, think and run next to me. And the water just got turned on at this point. It was silent so suddenly.

[00:06:31] I felt something like walk closely next to my ear. I was still looking in the mirror so I can't see anything. I really could not see anything. I was looking at myself, I didn't see anything. Walk towards me. I felt it and it said my name.

[00:06:51] Muki, clear as day, I felt it as the breath. So I ran to my mom's room and she was lying down. It was like, mom, someone's calling her my name. And because she's had experiences like this where she would show someone calling her,

[00:07:14] she just said tell them to go away. Tell them to leave. This is in their room. And I don't know why I thought that but I did. I told her what if it's true shock? That's when she sat out and was shocked or confused.

[00:07:35] She was like, we forgot your sister's birthday. She left and it was me. So she kinda let a candle and placed it in the front door. This is a Filipino custom. That is what we do if we're unable to visit their grave.

[00:07:55] We let a candle place it outside the door. It's from the door inside the door and you're outside. And offer prayer. We place it outside because if ever they are to visit us, they'd know that we're thinking of them.

[00:08:13] So that's how my sister has been doing stuff to remind me of her birthday or death anniversary either before the other one or in July, which is the month she was born. So that's it. I'll tell you when I'm sorry about her next time.

[00:08:37] Thank you Yvonne, aka Mookie, for calling in again. You have my condolences about the loss of your sister. And it's an honor to have you share her story with us. That's all we have this week, folks. Do you have a ghost story? Call 701-484-2666. That's 701-484-2666.
