[00:00:47] Killed woman.

[00:00:57] Welcome to Tell Me a Ghost Story.

[00:01:00] The late night call-in podcast where we delve into the world of the supernatural

[00:01:05] and explore the eerie and unexplained.

[00:01:09] I'm your host, Michelle Newman.

[00:01:13] This podcast features true stories from our callers that will send shivers down your spine

[00:01:19] and leave you questioning the existence of the afterlife.

[00:01:24] So grab a cozy blanket, turn down the lights.

[00:01:31] This is Leah calling in from California.

[00:01:34] My ghost story happened maybe six years ago or so in my same apartment where I live now.

[00:01:44] My apartment's not that old, so it didn't feel like nothing about it made sense to me.

[00:01:53] I was in my bedroom.

[00:01:55] I was asleep.

[00:01:56] All of a sudden, I think around three or four in the morning, I woke up.

[00:01:59] I was completely wide awake.

[00:02:04] Wasn't sure why.

[00:02:06] I looked up.

[00:02:07] And in my bedroom, my bed and my desk chair and desk are relatively close to each other.

[00:02:13] And I felt like I saw a man sitting in my chair.

[00:02:20] He was not from this time period.

[00:02:22] He had a suit on.

[00:02:24] I feel like it was Victorian, but it could be Edwardian.

[00:02:28] And I closed my eyes.

[00:02:31] I was like, nope, please no.

[00:02:35] I'm all good.

[00:02:38] Opened my eyes again.

[00:02:40] He was still there.

[00:02:41] And then I reached my hand up and like wafted it.

[00:02:50] And I saw him like disintegrate into the air.

[00:02:59] It felt like I could see my fingers in front of my face going back and forth.

[00:03:05] And it felt like he became like atoms.

[00:03:10] And then they all just became part of the room and disappeared.

[00:03:16] So sort of like dust going back and back and forward.

[00:03:20] And then I turned on my light.

[00:03:22] He was no longer there.

[00:03:24] I turned off my light and my heart was pounding and just tried to go back to sleep.

[00:03:30] And eventually I did.

[00:03:33] Thank you, Leah.

[00:03:34] Sometimes a ghost is connected to the land instead of the building.

[00:03:38] Other times, that ghost could be connected to you.

[00:03:43] Take a peek at your family photo albums next time you're home and report back.

[00:03:47] He might be some long-lost ancestor popping in to say hello.

[00:03:55] Hi, Michelle.

[00:03:56] This is Beth.

[00:03:57] This happened in rural Kentucky early to mid-80s when I was in high school.

[00:04:03] A friend of mine's uncle, his name was Doug.

[00:04:08] He was like the town drunk and rural Kentucky, like near hazard Kentucky.

[00:04:15] And he was like horrible.

[00:04:19] He was a thief, womanizer, didn't have any kids, you name it, horrible.

[00:04:24] So he decided to be saved.

[00:04:28] He wanted to be baptized.

[00:04:29] And at that particular church, her church wasn't my church, and I wasn't there.

[00:04:35] They would do the baptism in a creek.

[00:04:38] And the creek was like pretty big.

[00:04:40] It was actually a small river.

[00:04:42] And the whole congregation was there.

[00:04:45] So part of the congregation was on one side.

[00:04:48] And it was such a momentous occasion that they actually hired someone to take photos.

[00:04:53] But, you know, everybody was poor back then.

[00:04:55] So the pictures that they used, or the camera that they used was one of those instant photo things.

[00:05:02] And she brought the pictures in to show us.

[00:05:06] She said they were pretty interesting.

[00:05:08] I cheered with her.

[00:05:09] So she brought these pictures in.

[00:05:10] Her name was Amy.

[00:05:12] She showed me these pictures.

[00:05:14] And I saw them myself.

[00:05:17] And keep in mind, this is in the early 80s before Photoshop.

[00:05:20] And you see like 15, 20 people on the far bank.

[00:05:26] And then in between the cameraman and whoever was taking the photos.

[00:05:32] And the congregation was Doug being baptized with two creatures.

[00:05:37] And you see him.

[00:05:38] And he's there.

[00:05:40] There's one photo.

[00:05:42] And then there's another photo where he's being, he's going backwards.

[00:05:46] And you see this really tall person who is a good foot and a half above everyone else.

[00:05:54] In like back to over probably on the left-hand side.

[00:05:58] And then he goes under the water.

[00:06:04] And then you see the person.

[00:06:05] And he's moved.

[00:06:06] He's like back towards the back row.

[00:06:11] And then you see Doug come up.

[00:06:13] And you see the preacher with his hand on his head.

[00:06:18] And then the guy, whoever this was, he had really long hair, was off to the right.

[00:06:26] And then you see him, Doug.

[00:06:27] With his head down and he's moving his hair out of his face and wiping his face.

[00:06:33] And the guy's gone.

[00:06:39] The funny thing is, no one in a congregation remembers seeing this guy.

[00:06:47] Thank you, Beth, for your story.

[00:06:50] I wonder if the tall man was part of Doug's damnation or part of his salvation.

[00:07:00] Hi, Michelle.

[00:07:01] My name is Yamar.

[00:07:02] And I'm from Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

[00:07:06] My experience is with an Ouija board when I was in sixth grade.

[00:07:14] So my friends and I went to get a sleepover.

[00:07:17] It's like the most cliche story ever.

[00:07:20] We made a homemade Ouija board.

[00:07:22] We did it for 30 to 40 minutes without anything happening.

[00:07:27] Like we made our own Ouija board.

[00:07:28] We cleansed our own stuff.

[00:07:30] Nothing was happening.

[00:07:32] So we did everything we weren't supposed to do.

[00:07:36] Ask questions about when we're going to die.

[00:07:39] I asked questions about, you know, like can something satanic come through?

[00:07:47] Before, like, I get deeper into the conversation, we, my friends and I completely blocked off ducks.

[00:07:53] We put a lot of candles.

[00:07:55] So there was no way that air movement could happen when we were doing this.

[00:08:01] Unless someone would come through the door because we were doing it in the basement.

[00:08:04] So one way in, one way out.

[00:08:07] So when we were doing stuff, we asked for it.

[00:08:10] We asked the board to do something.

[00:08:12] And every time we asked for something to show itself, a candle, mind you, just a regular candle from Dollar Tree was flickering.

[00:08:22] So maybe a coincidence, maybe not.

[00:08:24] But with every question we asked for something to show itself, that would happen.

[00:08:28] So we would mock the board.

[00:08:31] We would say, like, nothing's going on.

[00:08:34] Until we asked, like, the ghost or the entity, whatever was coming through to tell us something scary.

[00:08:43] It popped out, ask.

[00:08:47] Killed woman.

[00:08:49] And we were like, we were all like, oh, so what is that?

[00:08:56] After we asked it, how?

[00:08:59] Like, we asked, how did it feel to do that?

[00:09:03] If it's true?

[00:09:05] Well, after we asked that question, all the candles that we had lit around us turned off.

[00:09:12] And we were crying, we were freaking out, so we turned on the light.

[00:09:17] And then when we turned on the light, my friends and I, it was like a finished basement in the corner above our fireplace that was not turned on.

[00:09:26] I promise you that there was like a figure of a shadow man holding something above his head.

[00:09:36] Like, it wasn't super clear, but it was dark enough to know that something was holding something above its head.

[00:09:49] And my friends and I completely freaked out.

[00:09:52] We turned on the TV, we put on the radio, and we all fell asleep in the corner.

[00:09:58] And I told my mom, my mom's a very religious Catholic woman.

[00:10:01] And when I told her that that happened, my mom was very upset because she's a very religious Catholic woman.

[00:10:07] And that was one thing she stated that she wished I would never do.

[00:10:13] So after my mother had like to talk with us, like me and my friends, so just two of my other friends, like how that's wrong and how we need to be careful.

[00:10:21] My friends and I obviously felt bad, and we were still scared about what we saw.

[00:10:27] I never told my mother about what I saw, but she was very upset that we did all of that.

[00:10:32] Mind you, we made her a weekie board with like cardboard, and we wrote it out ourselves.

[00:10:37] And we used a little glass, wine glass for the pentacle, I think that's how you call it.

[00:10:43] So after my mom had to talk with us in the morning after making us breakfast, my friends and I got like really scared.

[00:10:48] So we ripped up the board, and I lived in a community where they had like a lake running through the community.

[00:10:54] So we threw it and like we threw the ae-gee board after we ripped it up in the dam after we were done eating breakfast.

[00:11:02] So we were fine with that.

[00:11:03] We, you know, we went, it was regular school day.

[00:11:09] Monday or Tuesday, because this was on the weekends, so my friends went home on a Sunday.

[00:11:14] Monday or Tuesday, I go back down to the dam just to see like if the ouija board, because it was made out of cardboard, was like gone.

[00:11:23] But when I, there was like picnic tables on the side of like the dam that we were at, the ouija board was put back together.

[00:11:32] That really scared me, whether it was a prank or not, but we threw like a rock on it.

[00:11:36] We like threw it away in pieces, and it got back in a full piece, like a puzzle piece.

[00:11:43] So I told my friends that, and both my friends said that they like had, throughout the week after I told them that,

[00:11:51] they kept coming to me telling me like they kept having nightmares.

[00:11:55] It wasn't about anything specific, but they were like getting anxiety when they would go to sleep and stuff.

[00:12:00] So my mom told my uncle, and my uncle, you know, cleansed the whole house.

[00:12:05] So that's honestly it with the ouija story.

[00:12:09] But growing up, I didn't have anything.

[00:12:13] Like I was probably like, what, 14 or 15?

[00:12:16] Might be wrong about my age, but like growing up, I still lived with my mom until I was like 25 and I got pregnant.

[00:12:23] And my mom says that whenever I would like fall asleep in the living room,

[00:12:27] or when she would come in and see me, that she would always see like a shadow follow me.

[00:12:34] Especially when I was pregnant.

[00:12:36] I've never seen it before, but my mom could say like, you know, it would scare her and she would cleanse me and all that stuff.

[00:12:46] Thank you for your story, Yamari.

[00:12:48] I still remember when my friend brought a ouija board on our group vacation a few years ago.

[00:12:54] She thought I was going to be into it, because I'm into the paranormal.

[00:12:58] I, on the other hand, insisted we do a jigsaw puzzle instead.

[00:13:07] Hi, I'm Nikki.

[00:13:08] I'm from Cleveland, Ohio.

[00:13:11] And I have a ghost story.

[00:13:14] When I was a little girl, I saw a ghost.

[00:13:19] And I told my mom about it.

[00:13:21] But my mom didn't believe me.

[00:13:23] You know, I saw some mail sitting on the table from the previous owner.

[00:13:30] And also, mail stating that the previous owner was in a nursing home.

[00:13:36] And his name was Oscar.

[00:13:38] And, you know, one day I thought that I saw a huge dark figure while I was sitting at the table.

[00:13:47] And I ran into my mom about it.

[00:13:49] And she said, oh, he didn't see anything.

[00:13:52] But, so funny, because later on that week, I heard her talking on the phone saying that she was so scared to turn around.

[00:14:01] Because she knew that something was behind her.

[00:14:07] So fast forward years later.

[00:14:08] I've always thought about that.

[00:14:10] And it wasn't until I was an adult.

[00:14:15] And I had just gotten into an argument with my fiance about something stupid.

[00:14:22] He slammed the door.

[00:14:24] So I thought that he left the house.

[00:14:25] So I had my headphones on.

[00:14:28] I was upset.

[00:14:30] And I was washing dishes that night.

[00:14:33] And I felt like something was behind me.

[00:14:36] I felt that he was behind me.

[00:14:38] And I turned around.

[00:14:40] And it was not my husband.

[00:14:42] Or my Beyonce at the time.

[00:14:44] But it was a tall, dark black figure.

[00:14:47] And the way that it looked at me.

[00:14:50] Now, it was a dark blob.

[00:14:53] So I didn't know that it was a person or anything like that.

[00:14:56] It was just a tall, black mask.

[00:15:01] I felt like it was a him.

[00:15:04] And he was surprised that I saw him.

[00:15:09] And the communication that I got from it was, oh, my God, you can see me?

[00:15:14] I'm like, yes, I can totally see you.

[00:15:18] And he flew into the wall.

[00:15:23] What I saw was a big, tall, black mask.

[00:15:26] And it was a ghost.

[00:15:28] So my fiance was like, what's wrong?

[00:15:32] And I could not speak.

[00:15:34] And, you know, I am a big paranormal fan.

[00:15:38] And I listen to these paranormal stories.

[00:15:41] And I hear this thing all the time about how, like, yeah, the hairs on the back of my neck.

[00:15:47] Like, they stood up and it was so prickly.

[00:15:51] It is true.

[00:15:53] The feeling that I felt on the back of my neck.

[00:15:57] The prickly, crawly, icky feeling.

[00:16:00] I never want to experience that again.

[00:16:04] I had to sit down.

[00:16:05] And I sat on the floor for a little bit.

[00:16:07] And I told him, I said, you have to give me a minute.

[00:16:10] I'm not scared.

[00:16:11] But I just saw a ghost.

[00:16:14] Thank you, Nikki.

[00:16:17] Goosebumps are a fascinating phenomenon.

[00:16:20] They are also known as goose pimples, turkey bumps, or duck bumps.

[00:16:25] These bumps are caused by a contraction of miniature muscles that are attached to each hair to literally make your hair stand on end.

[00:16:36] This could happen when you feel cold, naturally, hear a beautiful piece of music, or feel threatened.

[00:16:48] Next message.

[00:16:51] I'm Michelle.

[00:16:52] It's me again.

[00:16:53] I'm from Philippines.

[00:16:55] And I want to talk about someone who constantly visited me, made herself known.

[00:17:04] And she stopped.

[00:17:06] I hope she stopped.

[00:17:07] She already made her point.

[00:17:09] She visited me.

[00:17:10] And this someone is my late sister, Patricia.

[00:17:17] So she was born in 1994.

[00:17:20] It was born in 1993.

[00:17:22] My mom, unfortunately, lost her because she contracted a chickenpox.

[00:17:28] Fortunately, that's the reason why we lost her.

[00:17:31] So this experience was significant to me because it solidified or confirmed the idea that she was actually communicating with.

[00:17:47] This happened on a Sunday.

[00:17:51] And I was actually waiting for my turn to get into the shower.

[00:17:55] So I was waiting in the living room slash dining room looking into the mirror.

[00:18:00] You can definitely hear the shower, the water, and the background.

[00:18:07] And I thought I heard someone call my name.

[00:18:11] My name is Mookie Abon.

[00:18:13] I go by Mookie here.

[00:18:21] Mookie.

[00:18:23] And I couldn't confirm if I was hearing it or not because of the shower.

[00:18:30] And because it was said so softly, I didn't believe it to be my name.

[00:18:39] So I said to myself in my head, say it again.

[00:18:45] So we did it again.

[00:18:47] Okay.

[00:18:48] I was like, nope, still can't hear you.

[00:18:51] Do it again.

[00:18:53] Slow my head.

[00:18:54] I did that two or three more times.

[00:18:57] And I think I got impatient or frustrated.

[00:19:02] Either way, I shouldn't have done this because it basically taunted him.

[00:19:08] So I said out loud, if you're there and if it's you,

[00:19:16] I think and run next to my ear.

[00:19:20] And the water just got turned off at this point.

[00:19:25] It was silent.

[00:19:27] So silent.

[00:19:29] I felt something like walk closely next to my ear.

[00:19:33] I was still looking in the mirror, so I can't see anything.

[00:19:36] Really could not see anything.

[00:19:38] I was looking at myself.

[00:19:39] I can see myself, but I didn't see anything walk towards me.

[00:19:44] But I felt it.

[00:19:47] And it said my name.

[00:19:49] Mookie.

[00:19:50] Clear as day.

[00:19:51] I felt it.

[00:19:53] So I ran to my mom's room.

[00:19:56] And she was lying to him.

[00:19:58] And I was like, mom, someone's calling her my name.

[00:20:02] And because she's had experiences like this where she would hear someone calling her,

[00:20:09] she said, tell them to go in.

[00:20:12] Tell them to leave.

[00:20:13] This is in their room.

[00:20:16] And I don't know why I thought that, but I did.

[00:20:19] I told her, what if it's Trisha?

[00:20:22] That's when she sat up and just was shocked or confused.

[00:20:30] She was like, we forgot your sister's birthday.

[00:20:37] So she got up, lit a candle, and placed it at the front door.

[00:20:42] This is a Filipino costume.

[00:20:44] Obviously, it's what we do.

[00:20:46] If we're unable to visit their grave, we light a candle.

[00:20:53] Place it outside the door.

[00:20:54] The front door isn't anywhere outside.

[00:20:58] And offer a prayer.

[00:21:00] We place it outside.

[00:21:01] Because if ever they're there to visit us, they'd know that we're thinking of them.

[00:21:07] Thank you, Yvonne, aka Mookie, for calling in again.

[00:21:12] You have my condolences about the loss of your sister.

[00:21:15] And it's an honor to have you share her story with us.

[00:21:22] Hi, Michelle.

[00:21:23] It's Yvonne again from Level Beams.

[00:21:25] I would like to say thank you so much for giving me a chance to share my story.

[00:21:31] And this could possibly be the last.

[00:21:34] So, here goes.

[00:21:37] This is about my late sister.

[00:21:39] Her name is Trisha.

[00:21:44] She was born in 1994.

[00:21:45] I was born in 1993.

[00:21:54] The most important thing that we celebrate is Old Souls Day.

[00:21:58] The Day of the Dead.

[00:21:59] It's celebrated around November 1.

[00:22:02] So, I remember we went home from the cemetery visiting our relatives.

[00:22:10] And I chose to go straight home to my parents' place.

[00:22:15] The majority of my relatives stayed at my grandma's place because she wanted to have dinner with the entire family.

[00:22:23] We were done.

[00:22:24] So, I went back home just to wind down all by myself.

[00:22:29] And I was standing in the middle of the room facing the TV.

[00:22:33] So, normally, like a normal person, you would cross your arms in front of you.

[00:22:40] You know, cross your arms in front of you.

[00:22:42] I do it in my back.

[00:22:44] On my back.

[00:22:47] Anyway, while I was watching, I felt something flick me.

[00:22:51] Like a flick of the finger in the back of my right arm.

[00:22:56] And I was like, that's weird.

[00:22:58] Could be just the position of my hand.

[00:23:01] And so, I adjusted a little bit and then continued to watch.

[00:23:06] So, while watching, it happened again two or three times.

[00:23:11] In my head, I was thinking it could just be my arm.

[00:23:15] It might be, you know, it's a weird way to do it.

[00:23:18] To cross your hands on your back.

[00:23:22] The thing is, the last time that thing or whatever it was flicked me, I heard it and felt it.

[00:23:32] And it hurt.

[00:23:33] Like, you actually heard it.

[00:23:34] The flick of the finger.

[00:23:37] So, I was like, is that you, Trisha?

[00:23:40] And then it stopped.

[00:23:42] It stopped and I said, hi.

[00:23:44] I'm here.

[00:23:45] I can't fail you.

[00:23:47] And then I just went back to my grandparents' place.

[00:23:50] Because it was freaky.

[00:23:52] And there have been a couple of instances.

[00:23:55] Not basically my experience.

[00:23:58] But my mom and dad would work.

[00:24:01] And my mom had help.

[00:24:07] Hired a maid to watch over us.

[00:24:09] Clean the house and watch over us as well.

[00:24:13] So, the maids that we've had.

[00:24:15] A couple of them would say or would ask me if I was home.

[00:24:20] Or if I stopped by after class at home and then went out.

[00:24:27] Because every time they said they would hear me or see me as just like a, like maybe me.

[00:24:36] My silhouette maybe.

[00:24:38] My silhouette maybe.

[00:24:38] From me walking out of the room.

[00:24:40] Or my laughter.

[00:24:41] Because I love.

[00:24:43] I have like a really loud laugh.

[00:24:45] And they would always tell me.

[00:24:47] I heard you.

[00:24:48] I saw you.

[00:24:49] A glimpse of you.

[00:24:51] Fleeting glimpse.

[00:24:53] So, that was always the comment.

[00:24:55] And I'm not sure if I look like my sister.

[00:24:59] Hopefully I do.

[00:25:00] That would be a compliment.

[00:25:01] Because it would say she was pretty.

[00:25:04] So, anyway.

[00:25:05] The very last experience I've ever had was a dream.

[00:25:09] So, usually my family.

[00:25:11] My extended family.

[00:25:12] My grandparents.

[00:25:13] My aunties.

[00:25:13] My uncles.

[00:25:15] Whenever we would get together.

[00:25:17] We'd be during holidays.

[00:25:19] Or summer.

[00:25:20] Or just as long as the kids.

[00:25:23] Including me when I was younger.

[00:25:24] Or wouldn't have school.

[00:25:27] So, or some break.

[00:25:28] Semestral break.

[00:25:30] So, we would rent out a house.

[00:25:35] As a built in pool.

[00:25:39] And we would enjoy our summer.

[00:25:42] Or holiday together.

[00:25:48] The scenario in my dream was.

[00:25:51] I was getting out of the pool.

[00:25:54] And by the time I was looking at.

[00:25:58] The location.

[00:25:59] Or just looked right in front of me.

[00:26:02] Everybody in the background was just like rushing.

[00:26:04] Screaming.

[00:26:05] Crying.

[00:26:06] Panicking.

[00:26:07] And in my head I'm like.

[00:26:09] What's happening?

[00:26:11] But I couldn't approach.

[00:26:15] The adults.

[00:26:16] Because they were doing what they had to.

[00:26:18] I'm not really sure what was happening.

[00:26:19] But I could see my cousins all lined up.

[00:26:22] From the youngest to the eldest.

[00:26:25] And somewhere down the line.

[00:26:28] Is my sister.

[00:26:30] Trisha.

[00:26:31] So.

[00:26:32] I saw her there.

[00:26:34] But her face was blurred.

[00:26:36] But I knew it was her.

[00:26:37] Because she was the only one that.

[00:26:40] I didn't know who it was.

[00:26:41] Well actually I knew it was her.

[00:26:44] But yeah.

[00:26:45] I could see everyone else's face.

[00:26:47] Just hers.

[00:26:47] I couldn't see.

[00:26:49] So.

[00:26:50] I've asked every single cousin of mine.

[00:26:53] What was happening.

[00:26:54] And then they were just panicking crying.

[00:26:56] And then I got to my sister.

[00:26:58] And I was like what's happening.

[00:26:59] And she was like look behind you.

[00:27:01] Behind you.

[00:27:02] And I did.

[00:27:03] When I looked behind me.

[00:27:05] I saw a dead body.

[00:27:07] And the dead body was me.

[00:27:08] Right next to the pool.

[00:27:11] So that was when.

[00:27:13] I woke up freaking out.

[00:27:15] And checked the calendar.

[00:27:16] It was July.

[00:27:18] The month.

[00:27:19] When we lost her.

[00:27:21] My mom lost her.

[00:27:23] So.

[00:27:25] That was like.

[00:27:26] Basically.

[00:27:27] Everything just.

[00:27:29] Making sense.

[00:27:30] Like she does it.

[00:27:31] To remind.

[00:27:32] Me of her.

[00:27:33] So I never.

[00:27:35] Took it against her.

[00:27:36] But she hasn't been doing it.

[00:27:38] Because.

[00:27:39] I've been like.

[00:27:41] Setting up.

[00:27:42] Reminders.

[00:27:42] That July.

[00:27:43] I have to remember her.

[00:27:45] So light a candle.

[00:27:46] Offer a prayer.

[00:27:48] So.

[00:27:49] That's it.

[00:27:50] Again.

[00:27:50] Thank you so much Michelle.

[00:27:52] And.

[00:27:53] Have a good one.

[00:27:55] Thanks Yvonne.

[00:27:57] You know where to find me.

[00:27:58] If anything else spooky happens.
