This is one of the original Tell Me A Ghost Story calls from the early days of the show. Short, raw, and exactly where it all started. These calls were later incorporated into a longer compilation episode with full host commentary if you want the complete experience.
Hey, it's Michelle, and this early episode has three true ghost stories that cover three completely different paranormal experiences in three completely different registers. One is rooted in the landscape of Alaska and the specific supernatural weight of that place. One is about the moment a skeptic runs out of explanations. And one involves a ghost in the shower, which I will just say upfront is exactly as unsettling as it sounds.
The first caller takes us to Alaska with a haunting that is shaped by the landscape itself. Alaska has one of the most distinctive and least documented paranormal geographies in the United States, a vast and ancient wilderness where Indigenous spiritual traditions going back thousands of years coexist with the specific isolation and darkness of a place where winter lasts most of the year, and the land has a presence that visitors describe immediately and consistently. Whatever happened to our caller in Alaska happened in that context, and that context matters.
Then a skeptic calls in. Every ghost story community has a soft spot for the skeptic conversion story because it is the one that carries the most implicit credibility. A person who does not believe in the paranormal, who has logical explanations ready for every unexplained thing they encounter, who has spent years dismissing the experiences of people around them, and who then encounters something that dismantles every explanation they have ever used. Our caller was that person. This episode is what changed them.
And finally, the shower ghost. Someone called in with a real paranormal encounter that happened in what should be the most private and ordinary space in any home, and discovered that privacy means nothing to whatever was sharing their bathroom. The shower ghost is specific enough in what it did and how it made itself known that our caller has not entirely reconciled themselves to the experience and probably never will.
Three real callers. Three true ghost stories from Alaska, a skeptic's last stand, and a bathroom that stopped feeling safe. This is where Tell Me A Ghost Story began.

[00:00:02] Welcome to Tell Me A Ghost Story. The late night call in podcast where we delve into the world of the supernatural and explore the eerie and unexplained. I'm your host, Michelle Newman. This podcast features true stories from our callers that will send shivers down your
[00:00:32] spine and leave you questioning the existence of the afterlife. So grab a cozy blanket, turn down the lights. Hey there, my name is Nicole. Born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska. I lived here for most of my life.
[00:00:51] This story actually takes place on a little island just outside of Homer, Alaska. Everyone who is familiar with these areas, these little islands, who is in decrypted or spooky stories will tell you there is some pretty interesting activity out in these areas.
[00:01:13] This happened to me when I was out with my now husband and his best friend and our dog. We were staying in these beautiful, I mean it was so isolated, there were yurts everywhere, otherwise it was just us on this island.
[00:01:28] And we've been warned about wildlife being an issue with Alaska, there's bears, there's big moose, things like that. We had bear spray, we weren't really concerned about it, we've been around these things our whole life.
[00:01:42] And on the first night there we decided to have a bonfire and my then boyfriend and now husband and his best friend were walking the beach and made it kind of far away from the bonfire. And I was staying there with my dog, eating s'mores, just hanging out.
[00:02:03] And all of a sudden had this overwhelming sense of dread and this thought just kept circulating in my mind, I'm not going to make it, I'm not going to make it out of here.
[00:02:15] That so freaked out that I took my dog up to the yurt and decided I'm going to try to sleep. My then boyfriend and his bestie had not made it back up to the yurt or even back to the
[00:02:26] bonfire, I could see their phone lights bouncing while they were looking at the water and all the jellyfish and things like that. And as I was getting into bed trying really hard to sleep and to calm down, had my dog
[00:02:42] up next to me in my sleeping bag just trying to breathe and didn't know why I was freaking out so much. I felt a whisper right on my ear, I could feel breath and I heard my own voice say, Nicole.
[00:03:01] And at that exact moment my dog jumped up out of bed, his hair was raised, he was barking more aggressively than I've ever heard him bark in my life and was running around the
[00:03:13] yurt, wasn't barking at the front door just running all around and have no idea what that was. I talked to a couple people about it and they said that's a known area for skin walkers and who knows, it terrified me.
[00:03:29] I've never felt a full body chill like I did that night and that's my story. Thanks so much. Thank you Nicole. I think they're sensitive when it comes to picking up energy. I think I'd always trust a dog in those circumstances. Next message.
[00:03:51] Hey Michelle, my name is Derek and I'm from La Cointe, California. And I was always a skeptic growing up. I grew up around a lot of religion but sometime around high school I had my best friend
[00:04:12] that I used to go to church with pretty routinely every Sunday and Wednesday. And at his house, this is roughly around high school, we got off band practice and I got a phone call and I asked to like use his room to talk and I remember when I
[00:04:44] remember walking into the room and I saw a door move on its own. You know, I guess I really don't know how to talk about it yet. Maybe I'll try again later but I love the show.
[00:05:17] Yeah, but a lot of strange occurrences I guess I've experienced but yeah, not tonight. Thank you Derek. We'll be here when you're ready to share. Next message. Hi Michelle, so my name is La Fonda. I live in a small town south from San Antonio.
[00:05:48] I haven't really been able to tell anybody the story without laughing or getting stupid. Along story short, I moved in with my partner. We were living together and I've always noticed how eerie and kind of weird her home was.
[00:06:06] And it was a small apartment so for me it being really small made it scarier for the reason because I felt like I couldn't hide from that feeling of being watched. Just a very weird atmosphere.
[00:06:20] So there was one night I was taking a shower and you know, I'm rinsing out my hair and you always get that one funny story. Are you sure that one thing where it's like oh you know, you close your eyes and you
[00:06:34] take a shower and you start getting all these weird spots in your head like oh my god, someone's watching me. In the midst of doing that, I felt full on palm fingers hand like all of the
[00:06:46] whole like someone's hand from the top of my back all the way to my hip like all like down my spine I felt someone like grabbing me. And so me thinking like it's my partner, I smacked the hand away and I'm like oh
[00:07:03] my god babe only to like finish my hair. I look around and no one is around. The door solution is open but we have glass fighting doors so I would have heard my partner come in through those both doors.
[00:07:18] Like it was a really weird experience and I don't, that's my story. Thank you LaSondra for your story. And once again I feel the need to ask what is going on in Texas? That's all we have this week folks. Do you have a ghost story? Call 701-484-2666.
